Cuba has never been a part of the United States, nor has it ever belonged to it. The Platt Amendment stated that the U.S. would intervene in the affairs of Cuba should it become necessary. |

Why did Brazil fail to become an advanced country?
Both Anglo America(US & Canada) and Latin America(Brazil, Mexico, Cuba, Argentina, Chile etc) had been European colonies and became independent in between the late 18th century and early 19th century.
Interestingly enough, Anglo American countries(US & Canada) became advanced countries but Latin American countries did not.
Brazil has a huge population and a lot of natural resources; nonetheless its economy is not going well.
Why did Brazil fail to become an advanced country like US or Canada?

Brazil should not be knocked just yet look at the advances they are making to help there natural beautiful environment and trying to get rid of gasonline use.Only country in the world that runs on ethanol they are advancing and will show the world they are much more than beautiful people who lay out on beaches all day they work have jobs and are very intelligent and will shatter the stereotypes! |

People speculate on this most interesting theory quite often. Arguments that I have heard deal with the northern states of the USA including California in the west uniting with Canada while the south would try to expand into Cuba and the Caribbean while at the same time holding on to Texas. |
